About
I began my journey with glass in 2015 in Fort Collins, CO, apprenticing as a lampworker at Moxie Glass. In 2019, I began studying at the Glass Education Center at Salem Community College, where I was introduced to coldworking. I was instantly drawn to the slow meditative process and the unique optical qualities that coldworking can achieve. I currently work from my home studio in Kansas City, MO.
My work engages directly with light, splitting it into a spectrum, catching it at unexpected angles, and creating pieces that draw the viewer in. My work sits in the space between science and sensation. I am deeply fascinated by light, whether that be prisms, spectroscopy, or the physics of refraction.
I am also interested in the psychology of light and how we are instinctively drawn toward a glittering object. Evolutionary theory suggests we seek sparkling surfaces as signals of water. I am interested in that pull, the way a flash of prismatic color across a wall catches the eye and can stop a person mid-step.
I am currently focusing on building works with rich inner geometry that present ever changing landscapes for the viewer as they move around the piece.
